H.O. Wolding Announces Practical Pay for Drivers

Amherst, Wis. – July 13, 2006 – H.O. Wolding, a short, regional and long haul trucking firm, is moving to a practical mile pay program for its drivers as of Oct. 1, 2006. The change will mean more pay for its drivers because the company will pay based on Rand McNally practical miles instead of Rand McNally short miles, which have long been the industry norm.

According to Marc Wolding, the company's vice president of operations, the change will benefit both H.O. Wolding and its drivers. "This is really a win-win. Drivers will earn more money, and as a company we'll increase our ability to retain drivers because they're in a stronger position financially," Wolding says.

"The change to a practical miles program will increase driver pay by around five percent on average," Wolding says. "This change will help keep H.O. Wolding on the leading edge of our industry because of the positive impact that this will have on our overall driver pay package."

Wolding continues to be in a strong position in recruiting new drivers as well as new individuals to a trucking career. This is because it can offer the combination of practical pay in addition to its recently introduced safety bonus program and its enhanced scheduling flexibility for getting drivers home more often.

"We believe we have a truly unique driver program, and we feel that with this change to practical pay we've only strengthened what we have to offer," Wolding says.

Wolding says the company offers both competitive compensation and secure employment. "Our drivers average $50,000 per year in earnings with some making more than $70,000 a year, and in our 73 years in business we've never had a single layoff," he says.

Wolding adds that the company has invested more than $5 million in new tractors and trailers in 2006 to help meet its growth objectives.
