QVL Pharmacy coming to Austin
Longview, Texas – (January 25, 2007) – QVL Pharmacy, a full-service, prescription-only pharmacy, is opening a new store in Austin on Feb. 1.
According to Greg Rogers, the company's director of marketing, QVL Pharmacy will offer medical practices and their patients an alternative to traditional national pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies. The company specializes in filling hard-to-find prescriptions, including those for controlled-substance medications, and in assisting patients with prescriptions involving workers' compensation.
"Unlike many pharmacies today that are unable or unwilling to provide personalized services that are tailored to their customers' needs, we look for opportunities to provide pharmacy services that meet our patients' individual treatment, lifestyle and budget requirements," Rogers says.
The new Austin store will be overseen by David Reichert, Pharm.D., R.Ph. Dr. Reichert has been a resident of Austin for more than 30 years, and he has more than 26 years of experience in the pharmacy and pharmaceutical industries. He received his B.S. degree in pharmacy from the University of Texas in 1980 and his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Florida in 2005.
Rather than only stocking high volume medications, Dr. Reichert says the company focuses on the specific prescription needs of patients and the prescribing practices of local area physicians.
"QVL has a strong commitment to stocking medications in adequate quantities to completely fill prescriptions when patients come to the pharmacy," Dr. Reichert says. "It's a convenience factor for our patients. Because of our inventory practices, patients don't have to visit multiple pharmacies to get their medications filled, and they rarely have to return to get partially filled prescriptions completed."
Dr. Reichert adds that QVL Pharmacy carefully scrutinizes prescription fill-times to assure the shortest possible wait times for customers. "Because we don't carry non-medical merchandise, our staff members are free to fill prescriptions without any distractions," he says.
The company also provides free delivery (within store delivery areas) and mail service upon request.
QVL Pharmacy was started in 2005 to meet the unique needs of patients struggling with pain. As it has grown and expanded into other medical specialties, Rogers says the company has found many medical practices and patients who appreciate and even require the tailored services that it offers.
