PR To Go—the press release service that blends personalized service with efficient electronic distribution

"Tim, your publicity service is great. As a result of distributing our press release about our DOT Compliance Challenge program to Internet search engines and news sites, the release was picked up by an important government agency official as well as by a key contact at a major trucking and logistics company. Both of these contacts may potentially have a very positive impact on our business. Super job — thanks so much!"

PR To Go is easy to use

Getting started with PR To Go is easy. By using the simple online tool (found at the end of this section) to provide the essential information, you can help put your news items on the fast track toward development into professionally written, ready-to-be-distributed press releases.

Here's how easy it is to use PR To Go:

1. You provide the essential information. Simply fill in the information requested in the online tool and send it to us.

2. We give you a confirming phone call. Once we receive your information, we'll make a phone call to you to briefly confirm all details, ask any follow-up questions and take your order. This confirming telephone call is normally made the same day your e-mail is received if your e-mail is sent during regular business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday).

3. We write the release. After we call and discuss the release with you, we'll write a draft of the release and will then send it to you to get your approval and to make any changes you request.

4. We send out and monitor the release. After you've approved the release, we'll distribute it to the media outlets you've chosen as quickly as possible within the timetable you've specified (most releases can be distributed within a single business day). We will also selectively monitor activity online afterward and report results. For comprehensive monitoring and/or for extensive telephone follow-up to specific media outlets, a fee is charged.

How to get the most out of PR To Go

In preparing to send information for your press release, please keep these 5 tips in mind. They will help ensure a higher quality press release and will help increase the likelihood of your release getting picked up by the media.

1. Be sure you have news to report. If it's not news, it's not a news or press release. If you have something important you want to convey but it does not reasonably qualify as news, it's likely better suited for a different communication vehicle, such as an ad or a direct marketing piece. The lack of legitimate news content is one of the main reasons why editors or news directors frequently decide to pass on using a specific press release.

2. Provide all relevant information. All news stories are based on a solid foundation of supporting details related to the classic "who," "what," "when," "where," "how" and "why" elements of a story. Make sure to include all relevant information—this will help ensure that the press release that is ultimately created for you is as complete as possible.

3. Identify a contact person. The contact person is someone who should be reasonably available in the event a member of the media would need more information or would like to schedule an interview.

4. Use specifics. Statistics, real life examples and related facts help make a story more interesting and memorable, and these will get your press release a more serious look from an editor or news director. Try to include these whenever possible or where appropriate, and refrain from using hype or cliches that do not add any substance to your story.

5. Avoid jargon. Put industry specific terms into everyday language. You never want to assume an audience is able to understand the language of a specialized field or area of knowledge.

Please note: Through its PR To Go service, Solinger Communications uses its experience and industry knowledge to make every effort to place press releases with offline and online media that include newspapers, business magazines, trade and professional journals, TV and radio stations, and Internet search engines and news sites, and has done so successfully for many clients (see testimonials).

In actuality, though, we cannot guarantee that a specific press release will be accepted for publication by any one particular media outlet, as individual media news decisions are ultimately based on editorial factors and other criteria that are beyond our control. Please see "How to get the most out of PR To Go" above to better ensure the results you are seeking.
